"Interaction has become a word that describes the relationship between learners and technology. Unfortunately, learners rarely learn from their interactions with technology; they learn from their interactions with each other."
Falls Church, VA, (May 2007) - This message set the tone for the two days learning professionals recently spent with Dr. Bill Bruck envisioning how to incorporate new technologies into current practices to improve the effectiveness of their work in delivering distance learning to students in the province.
Dr. Bruck's work with department administrators focused on using best practices in collaboration technology to effectively work together as a team, by identifying current and desired states and creating a roadmap to arrive at the department's vision for an effective learning organization. Distance facilitators in another session had the opportunity to create their vision of the future and identify requirements for change based on their goals and aspirations for increased student-to-student interaction.
According to Ruth Wilson, e-Learning consultant for the New Brunswick Department of Education, Dr. Bruck's workshops were instrumental in paving the way for the department's change management plans, "I've heard many positive comments concerning your inspiring presentations from both department of education staff and our distance facilitators. Because of the path you cleared for us in your workshops, our staff is very excited and receptive to our plans to change the way we do business. Thank you!"
